Welcome to Kinders Mill

Kinders Mill Day Nursery operates from an old mill standing beside the river Hiz. The premises have been refurbished to a high standard offering a wide range of facilities enabling us to continue to offer quality childcare in a 'home from home' environment. The name derives from the concept of an atmosphere of activity where learning takes place and where traditional values of quality service and dependability are assured.

Kinders Mill welcomes any child between the ages of 3 months and 5 years. Staff are qualified and experienced over and above the minimum requirements so are able to provide the care and attention which young children need.

We continually strive to deliver the highest possible service and have gained a Quality Counts award, the nationally recognised, industry standard, quality assurance scheme. You can obtain further information at the N.D.N.A. website, www.ndna.org.uk

Most parents are anxious when leaving their young children to be cared for outside the home. We are well aware of this and are keen to ensure that children and parents adapt easily to the transition. When your child starts with us, pre-nursery contact is encouraged and you are invited to initially come into the nursery and spend time with him or her to assist in the settling in process.

‘Family Home Base’

At the heart of the nursery is the 'home base.' This is a room where your child will be cared for by a nursery nurse along with several other children of various ages. This unit is similar to a parent looking after their growing family and can offer long term stability for the children. Siblings can also be cared for in the same group. We can therefore guarantee that every child will be treated as an individual and not just become a face in the crowd. Older children are free to choose to engage in other supervised activities in a large open area adjacent to the home base which is equipped for their developing needs. The premises also offer a patio and large hall which allows children to play outside and let off steam whatever the weather.

Organic Meals

Similar to the home, at the centre of our nursery is the kitchen where all food is prepared fresh on the day. Primarily for the health of your child, we are pleased to be able to offer a menu prepared using ingredients of organic origin. We operate under the Soil Association Code of Practice for Catering Establishments and you are welcome to inspect our records. Information about the Soil Association and the full benefits of eating an organic diet can be found at www.soilassociation.org.uk. Meals and snacks will be eaten nearby the home base supervised by your child's key worker.

‘All inclusive fees’

It is our aim to assist parents with their busy work schedules and so we offer an 'all in' child care service. Meals, snacks, nappies, lotions, etc. as well as musical and swimming lessons are all included in the fees.

Communication

We believe that it is in everyone's interests to maintain good channels of communication between the nursery and parents. Apart from being able to talk on a daily basis with your child's key worker, they also produce daily written notes which are available when your child is collected. In this way, parents can keep up to date with progress and routines of their child. There are also regular evenings when staff members are available to talk more at length about progress or any relevant concerns.

Please contact us if you would like to find out more about what we can offer you and your child.
